Well, ok I didn’t YET, but I’m setting that affirmation up according to the rules of the Law of Attraction, which, in simplistic terms, means stating what you want as if it has already happened.
And why do I think that will work (the affirmations are supposed to be plausible after all)? Because basically Michelle’s doing the same work I am. Ok, bit of a stretch. But she is passionate about healthy, organic food, making good choices, and most importantly, she’s on a mission to educate the public about it.
And she’s making it a national issue. How cool is that. She’s created an organic garden at the White House and is now launching her Let’s Move food campaign with a full-on effort. I applaud her efforts and stand behind her. I have faith she’ll make a difference in the world.
I don’t however; have any faith in the goodwill efforts of the ‘Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation’, a coalition including Campbell Soup, Coca-Cola, General Mills, Kellogg, Kraft Foods and PepsiCo; a coalition that has ‘promised’ to introduce new more healthy options as a direct response of Michelle’s efforts. Why would big food manufacturers suddenly care about public health? Maybe to make sure they don’t get over-regulated. Maybe as part of marketing spin campaign. But as far as I’m concerned, that’s about the extent of their level of ‘care’. Food manufacturing is a business. Those companies are not in it to make the public healthy. They are in it to make a profit (nothing wrong with that) and they do that by selling as many food-like products (something wrong with that) as possible. The 16 members of the alliance make 20-25 percent of ‘food’ consumed in the United States. Wow, that’s a scary thought. Because it turns out ‘food’ does not actually need to be manufactured at all.
Clearly, we’ve still got a long way to go. But the good news is we’re on the road. And I’m just so thrilled to be on it with my new friend, Michelle !
